Our ThermalEdge® uPVC windows and doors offer exceptional thermal efficiency, durability, and low maintenance, making them an increasingly popular choice for New Zealand homes. Widely used across Europe, where winters are harsh, uPVC joinery is engineered to withstand the coolest of climates.
Altus® works closely with Aluplast GmbH, one of the top German uPVC suppliers globally, and if you’ve travelled through Germany, Austria, or Scandinavia, you’ve likely seen their uPVC windows in action – chosen for their airtight seals, robust construction, and outstanding noise reduction properties. Altus® brings this European technology to New Zealand via our ThermalEdge® brand, offering homeowners an alternative to aluminium joinery.

uPVC – what is it?
uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) is a highly durable, low-maintenance material used extensively for windows and doors. It is rigid, weather-resistant, and highly insulating.
Why is uPVC so popular in Europe?
- Thermal efficiency – uPVC frames don’t conduct heat, reducing heat loss and helping homes stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer
- Weather resistance – uPVC doesn’t warp, rot, or corrode, making it perfect for damp, cold, and coastal climates
- Low maintenance – No painting or staining required; just a quick wipe to keep them looking new
